Training for Healthcare Professionals

At OneSmallStep we have a multi-skilled team with a wealth of knowledge and experience in Public Health. If you think you, your staff team or workplace would benefit from upskilling with accredited training then please get in touch and we will discuss your options.

We can offer MECC Healthy Conversation Skills training for healthcare professionals plus a range of resources accessible from this page, all designed to support learners to develop an understanding of public health and how having healthy conversations is everyone’s role.

Making Every Contact Count (MECC)

MECC Healthy Conversations is an approach that is used in millions of day to day interactions that organisations and individuals have with people, to support them in making positive changes, to both their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Rather than telling people what to do, Making Every Contact Count is about recognising opportunities to talk to people about their wellbeing using the skills of asking and listening.

If you would like to register your interest in MECC training please email enquiries@onesmallstep.org.uk or call us on 01392 908 139.

I wasn’t in a good place last year, I found out I had cancer and COVID made that harder to deal with. I knew I was drinking more than I should. The hospital told me about OneSmallStep and I’ve not looked back. The regular support has been amazing, I talk to my Health Trainer Debbie each week and she really takes the time to understand what’s going on for me. I feel like I’m in control of my drinking now and that’s given me confidence to tackle the challenges life is throwing at me.
