Nutritionist – Devon

Full Time Role (37.5 hours per week; 12-month contract)

£26-30K per annum

An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and motivated Nutritionist or Dietitian with experience and a special interest in weight management and health promotion. This role will contribute to the development, provision, and coordination of the Adult Weight Management programme within the One Small Step, Healthy Lifestyle Service for adults aged 18 and over, delivered across Devon

The role will involve virtual service delivery (telephone based) We support all areas of Devon, excluding Plymouth and Torbay.

One Small Step is a community-based, multi component service bringing together a range of different programmes under one Healthy Lifestyles Service. The service includes a personalised weight management care pathway for adults (over 18), with a focus on those who need support to lose weight.

You will be responsible for providing high quality client-centred, evidence-based dietary advice and support within the programme, working within a multi-disciplinary specialist team. Providing expert nutrition advice, underpinned by a sound knowledge of the principles of behaviour change, you will support adults across Devon, to make and maintain health related behaviour changes.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Passionate about providing high quality care and services.
  • Experienced in delivering high standard nutritional care and advice within community services.
  • Experienced in delivering one to one interventions, to support weight management and dietary improvement, for clients who may also have co-morbidities / complex needs.
  • Experienced in understanding the psychology of eating and complex factors influencing weight management.
  • Experienced in delivery of specialist care and treatment in health and community settings, ideally with a minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experienced in working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Currently registered with the Association of Nutritionists or BDA

Health Trainer – Devon

Part Time/Full time Role Salary £20,000 – £25,000 pro rata

An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and motivated Health Trainer to support the integrated healthy lifestyle service in Devon. Predominantly offering virtual support across Devon, this role forms an integral part of service delivery, reaching into communities and supporting individuals to make and sustain behaviour changes to improve health and wellbeing

The key functions of the role are:

Health Trainers provide support and practical information to individuals to assist them in making healthier lifestyle choices. Working virtually, you will be promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging healthier eating, increasing levels of physical activity, supporting individual to reduce their alcohol intake and delivering stop smoking interventions using a range of approaches and methods. This role will promote access into the service, identifying, supporting and empowering behaviour change. Ideally, you’ll have experience or qualifications in healthy lifestyles, but most importantly, you’ll be a natural and passionate motivator with excellent communication skills to engage with individuals on a one to one basis.

This post will:

Support residents across Devon to live healthier lives, you will work with individuals and partners to reduce health inequalities. You will deliver nationally recognised health intervention programmes whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will contribute to the wider service achieving its targets and outcomes. There will be a requirement to work at least 1 evening per week.

We would like to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:

  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year experience working in a health improvement service.
  • Are experienced in using behaviour change models within a work context.
  • Are flexible with good time management and planning skills
  • Are interested in motivating and supporting both individuals virtually.
  • Are proficient in using databases and keeping accurate client records
  • Can raise public awareness and provision of consistent healthy lifestyle messaging, on issues relevant to the health of the community and in a multi-cultural setting
